Boss tips

  • Parry everything. Practice on Gelum first — parrying (M2) is the core mechanic against every boss. See controls.
  • Crocodile King in the Marsh is the early wall — level to ~35 and learn its tells before attempting.
  • Progression bosses (Securis for Quincy, the inner-world boss for Shinigami) gate your endgame abilities — see the Quincy and Shinigami guides.

VV: ULTIMATUM VV: ULTIMATUM Bosses — FAQ

What is the hardest early boss in VV: ULTIMATUM?

The Crocodile King in the Marsh (Lv 30–40) is widely considered the hardest early boss. Level up and learn its attacks, and parry with M2.

What boss teaches parrying in VV: ULTIMATUM?

Gelum, the tutorial boss, teaches the parry mechanic. Practice green and orange parry timing on it before heading into PvP zones.

How to beat each boss

Every VV: ULTIMATUM boss is built around the parry system, so reading attacks matters more than raw stats:

  • Gelum (tutorial) — your parry teacher. Watch for the green and orange parry windows and don't rush; this is where you build the habit that carries the whole game.
  • Crocodile King (Marsh, Lv 30–40) — the early wall. Reach at least Lv 35, learn its lunge tells, and parry rather than trade blows.
  • Mammoth (Arctic, Lv 40–60) — a heavy area boss; bait its slow swings and punish the recovery.
  • Securis (Quincy) — the final fight of the Quincy chain that unlocks Schrift + Letzt Stil.
  • Inner-world Shikai boss (Shinigami, Lv 35+) — a 3-phase mirror match that ends with a weapon swap and 4 fresh HP bars; it unlocks your Shikai.

General boss tips

Bring your strongest skill tree and a charm that suits the fight — Giant Fighter and Side Character both boost damage against NPC bosses. Keep a pool in Reserves so you don't run out of abilities mid-fight, and learn the controls cold (heavy attack is M3, parry is M2) on the controls page. More world bosses are being added in updates, and we'll expand this list as they appear.

Boss rewards and parry timing

Bosses are the main source of progression milestones rather than random loot grinds. The Securis and inner-world fights unlock your faction's release outright, while area bosses gate access to the next zone and drop materials and XP. Because the Marsh and Arctic bosses sit at the front of new zones, clearing them is effectively your level-up checkpoint.

On timing: a green parry is the standard well-timed block that staggers the attacker, and an orange parry is the tighter perfect window with a bigger reward. Bosses telegraph heavy swings — hold your parry, eat the wind-up, and punish the recovery rather than trading hits. Keep your controls sharp and a chunk of Reserves spare so your kit is available for the punish.

Boss fundamentals and what's coming

Every boss in VV: ULTIMATUM is a parry check first and a damage race second. The pattern that clears almost any fight: bait the boss into a heavy swing, hold block for the green parry, then punish the stagger with your strongest combo before retreating. Don't greed extra hits — most early-game deaths come from trading into an attack you could have parried. Bring the Sense ability to track a boss that repositions, and keep a quarter of your points in Reserves so your kit is available for the punish window.

Match your level to the zone: attempt the Crocodile King around Level 35, the Mammoth around 45–50, and progression bosses only once you've done the lead-up missions. As the game updates, VV Team is expected to add more world bosses and raid encounters in the Human World and Hueco Mundo, and we'll fold each new fight into this list with its location and approach as it lands.
