VV: ULTIMATUM VV: ULTIMATUM Factions — FAQ

What are the factions in VV: ULTIMATUM?

VV: ULTIMATUM has three factions: Shinigami, Quincy and Hollow (which evolves into Arrancar). You choose one after the tutorial.

What is the best faction in VV: ULTIMATUM for beginners?

Quincy is the most beginner-friendly faction — it is ranged and has the clearest, most linear progression path.

Can you change faction in VV: ULTIMATUM?

You unlock a free second slot at Level 100, letting you try another faction without losing your first character.

Faction progression at a glance

All three VV: ULTIMATUM factions share the same early game — finish the tutorial, learn to parry, and quest through Soul Society Outskirts — then split at Level 25 when their unique progression begins. Shinigami enter Meditation to chase a Shikai; Quincy run Lieutenant missions toward Schrift and Letzt Stil; and Hollow evolve by consuming enemies all the way to Arrancar. None of the three has a second-stage release (Bankai, Vollständig or Full Res) in the game yet, so your clan, traits and charms carry your power once you have your release.

Switching factions later

Your first faction isn't a permanent commitment. At Level 100 you unlock a free second character slot, letting you try another faction without deleting your main. That makes a low-risk plan for new players: start as Quincy to learn the game on the most forgiving path, then branch into Shinigami or the harder Hollow route once you understand combat and the clan system. If you're torn between all three, the faction quiz matches a faction to your answers in under a minute.

Faction identity, lore and the faction war

VV: ULTIMATUM leans on Bleach for its three factions, and each carries its own fantasy. Shinigami are the Soul Reapers who keep balance between worlds, fighting with a Zanpakutō that grows into a Shikai. Quincy are Reishi archers who manipulate spirit particles for ranged dominance and walk a disciplined path toward Schrift and Letzt Stil. Hollow are predators who evolve by consuming other souls, climbing to Vasto Lorde and shedding their mask to become an Arrancar.

That rivalry isn't just flavour — the factions clash in the open world. From the Arctic onward, and especially in the Human World, you'll run into players of opposing factions, and faction missions can pit you against them directly. Your choice shapes who your natural enemies are and which zones feel hostile. Because all three currently cap at their first release, fights stay relatively close, and your edge comes from your clan, skill trees and charms rather than an out-of-reach transformation. Use the faction quiz if you're torn.

Faction FAQ

Which faction has the highest damage in VV: ULTIMATUM?

All three can hit hard with the right build. Hollow/Arrancar has the highest ceiling through Cero and Hakuda, but Shinigami and Quincy are very competitive once you have your release and an S-tier clan.

Can two players of different factions team up?

Yes, you can play together, but faction missions and open-world PvP zones can pit opposing factions against each other, so expect rivalry from the Arctic onward.
