If you want to play around spacing, the Spear and Longsword trade a little damage for extra reach — strong in open zones like the Human World where you can keep distance. The slower Greatsword, Hammer and Club hit hard and break posture but punish whiffs, so they reward players confident in their parry reads. Rifle and Rapier sit lowest: Rifle has range but weak damage, and Rapier is fast but light.

Weapon mechanics: light, heavy, posture and range
Every weapon shares the same core mechanics, and understanding them is how you pick the right one. Light attacks (M1) are fast pokes for building pressure; heavy attacks (M3) hit harder and do more posture damage but are slower and easier to parry. Breaking an opponent's posture opens them to a big punish, which is why heavy, posture-focused weapons like the Greatsword, Hammer and Club can be deadly against players who block predictably.
